I see, I see! That's a fair opinion. The friend I discussed this with previously thought that a plot centered around romance is trite, even boring. I'll admit that a lot of the stories fall into certain cliches — and while there are endless ways to tell a romantic story — if you already think the genre uninspired, then indeed, it's likely not for you.

Haha. That's the Height Rule™, Tachibana-san. It's pretty strict. The taller one is meant to exemplify valued masculine traits, such as stoicism or coolness, yes.
If you don't see anything charming of them, then perhaps that trait's more subjective? Or perhaps it's simply a flaw in the author's writing.
