"Hello, hello! You've reached Kanbaru Suruga, better known as Araragi'sRin's a certain someone's sex slave. My specialty move is the edge attack. It seems I'm not available right now, but if you would leave a message, I'll be sure to get back to you on my own time. Thanks!"
W-Wait, hold up a second!!! What did make you think that! And what assumption! I think you may have something wrong here, in that I'm not smart enough to pull off ANY sort of elaborate pranks... But is this about the adult material of the genre?
All right, all right. I admit, that part may have been in poor taste. (But only in poor taste if we are to assume that I knew it would offend you, somehow!) But... Would you have given it the same chance if you knew?
Yes! Regardless, I will apologize for any offense I may have caused. And you were under no obligation to enjoy it, of course, but thank you for reading at least a bit anyway!
Right, that's a wonderful way to look at it! How refreshing to read. Too often, people won't give the genre a chance... Ah, one day, though it's a far off dream, I hope that it won't have as terrible of a stigma attached to it. That way, perhaps others might be more comfortable in their enjoyment of it. But for now, I am simply but a lone warrior fighting an uphill battle. I won't give up!!
Eroticism aside, I can see the appeal of the genre somewhat. Some of it has nice stories and interesting characters. [Though some... he had to double take.] Though romantic stories as a whole isn't really my preference. I hope you can find someone who shares the same interest, Kanbaru-san. :)
You did tell me that about your preference, didn't you? I might be somewhat of a romantic myself, so I was surprised to hear that! But I'm finding your view isn't as uncommon as I originally thought... Can I ask what about them, in particular, doesn't strike your fancy? Genuine curiosity, is all.
I suppose from that relationships centers the plot? I don't mean that I dislike relationships in stories completely. But, I think I'd like something with not just friendship and romance, but with something else added as well. Also it might just be me, but I get this feeling that the taller one in the relationship tends to be... boring? From what I've notice, they're usually described as cool or charming, but I don't see anything charming of them.
I see, I see! That's a fair opinion. The friend I discussed this with previously thought that a plot centered around romance is trite, even boring. I'll admit that a lot of the stories fall into certain cliches — and while there are endless ways to tell a romantic story — if you already think the genre uninspired, then indeed, it's likely not for you.
Haha. That's the Height Rule™, Tachibana-san. It's pretty strict. The taller one is meant to exemplify valued masculine traits, such as stoicism or coolness, yes. If you don't see anything charming of them, then perhaps that trait's more subjective? Or perhaps it's simply a flaw in the author's writing.
I don't mind it but it seems a bit overly ambitious when the story solely centers around two people's feelings for each other. Though I do wonder if I might have not looked more thoroughly, since I've only notice this pattern from three or so works in the genre.
It seems like a silly rule to me, I guess. Wherein the taller one is drawn to be charming whereas the shorter one follows along to the other's bidding no matter how dubious it can be at times.
Overly-ambitious? It certainly takes a lot of dedication to the relationship, yes. Should you ever be willing to explore these novels again, let me know. I bet there's books out there that have m/m, but might be action genre instead...
I understand that. It can get, well... [ well. ] Well— You've read it, you should know where I'm going with that train of thought.

Re: text
You deliberately omit any sort of possibility that
the genre might likely
contain explicit material.
[And he will deny any sort of evidence that he... might have enjoyed it.]

Erotica is far from my usual choices.

Re: text
It was a new experience, at least.

I might have some ideas where you might be leading that to, yes...
